Ever since Señora Lipton went to Mexico as a student on a high school Spanish class trip, she fell in love with the language and knew she wanted to teach it! After majoring in Spanish at Northwestern University and studying abroad in both Venezuela and Mexico, her dream came true. Upon graduation, she began teaching at Livingston High School where she taught for five years. This year marks her 14th year as a teacher and her 9th year teaching in the Scotch Plains Fanwood district.

Señora Lipton has studied dance all her life and was able to realize another life-long dream….. to dance professionally. She has performed on Broadway, TV and film and now continues to teach Zumba for fun.

Prior to teaching in the district, Señora Lipton worked in New York City where she started the Hispanic Media and Marketing division at Burson-Marsteller, NYC. She then had her own Hispanic marketing agency, Bienestar LCG, which was eventually sold to Publicis Group.

Señora Lipton’s extensive travels throughout Latin America have enabled her to understand the similarities and differences amongst these countries and to experience firsthand the richness of their cultures. She combines all that she has experienced from her travels, dance and studies in order to bring them to the classroom in a brand of teaching she calls ‘edutainment’.

Señora gets great satisfaction in seeing her students develop a love for learning a language and an appreciation for other cultures.
